I got raw catfish here. And portions are paltry. Owner did comp the uneaten meal and offered another for me to return. I may try them again.

The service was great first of all. The tamales, chicken, and baked beans were awesome!!! Went back the next night it was so good. Great atmosphere.

I'm always wary of trying a new place in the Florence/Shoals area, but I'm so glad I tried Champy's. The chicken here is outstanding! I even enjoyed the side dished (mashed potatoes with gravy and bbq beans). The only thing I wish I would have done different was to get my sweet tea with half unsweet ~ it was make a face sweet, KWIM? The inside is laid back and the waitstaff friendly and helpful. I can't wait to go back and try something different!

HOLY *#!@!! Why haven't I come here before? The food is as good as the blues it plays. It's a must when you come into the Shoals

My goodness these people know how to fry chicken. The tamales are incredible. Be warned that the chicken pieces are huge. Two pieces is more than enough for most folks.

This small chain is a lively place that you need to visit should you be in the Shoals down there in Bama. Spicy fried chicken. Only downside is that alot of families come here and their kids suck. They suck so bad that it distracts you from how good the chicken is. They really suck. The kids. Yup. They suck.

I am a regular at the Champy's Fried Chicken in Chattanooga. So, on my way to Mississippi, I had to stop by and visit this one for the first time. Customer service has been wonderful. My waitress kept my cup full of sweet tea at all times. She was nice and friendly and I was met with a smile from her when seated. Parking is to the right of the restaurant. It looks like they just paved it with concrete. Now for the food. They have the best southern fried chicken in the South. The catfish is also the best that you can get any where. Mashed potatoes and gravy, well I wish I had the recipe because it is that good. The baked beans I got was so good, I just wanted to swallow it without chewing it. I'm actually given a thought about asking Seth Champion of franchising it as I think a lot about their business.

Great location. Good parking and spacious seating. Very comfortable, laid-back atmosphere, with a roadhouse bar kind of feel. It's not rough, though, and is very clean and family-friendly. Good place to meet with friends. (I wish they wouldn't let the smokers stand so close to the front door. I've never seen this during the day, but I have seen it at night with some frequency.) Food pricing matches the quality. Food quality is above average, but not gourmet. Fried chicken and chicken fingers, their signature foods, are a bit too greasy, but they are tasty. Don't miss the tamales if you go. They are a little spicy, but really good and they travel well. We've gotten these for parties, and they hold up to reheating. Overall, this is a good choice for folks who want something a little different than your average food chain establishment.

I really like this place and the food was good...fried just right and not heavy on the batter. I had catfish but I tried my husband chicken and like that too. We sat outside and the kids loved looking at everything on the wall. Our waitress was nice but I was kind of surprised she didn't know about the famous recording studio , Fame, which was nearby.

We tried Champy's based on Yelp reviews and loved it!!! Great fried chicken tenders and wonderful fried pickles. We had a great server as well. We will be back!!

Quite good southern fried chicken. Lots of meat on chicken. Steer clear of this place if your dieting or avoiding diabetes.

Getcha yourself over to 2nd street in Sheffield. Pass the dilapidated buildings until you reach the shack of a place called Champy's. Turn that steering wheel quick, squeal some tires if you have to, and park your tail. That's what I did. I sat outside on the breezy patio and listened to the sounds of blues and old rock n roll. I felt like I was at a beachside restaurant just chillaxing. If only there had been the sounds of waves crashing. I ordered the 2 piece white meat plate which comes with a breast, wing, cole slaw, and baked beans. As I was waiting on my order I researched the place and found out they have only a few locations in Alabama and one in Tennessee. I later learned from a coworker that local musicians get the chance to play there and that's pretty cool considering Shoals is well-known in the state for hosting some music greats of the past. I did have to wait a little while for my food, maybe 18 min, though they weren't really that busy. However, I also understand that if you're freshly deep frying a chicken breast then it requires a little time. I was shocked at the portion size of the breast and 'wing'. It wasn't a typical wing piece it was the whole arm! I don't know how they safely carry these heavy chicken pieces on the flimsy Styrofoam plates without disaster. The breading is super crispy and you can taste a hint of spice when you get a good bite of it. The chicken was really moist, hearty, and piping hot. The chicken sits atop a slice of white bread I assume to soak up the grease because I certainly wasn't eating that greasy thing. The baked beans include some kidney beans, large pieces of onions, and bacon. They were just OK. The cole slaw was great, a perfect combo of mayo and tang. My only complaint was the plastic fork. It doesn't make prying off a piece of chicken from the bone very easy. It was a lot of food for a total of $8.01. I was stuffed, maybe a little too stuffed for a hot Alabama summer day. I enjoyed both the food and atmosphere. I bet it's a cool experience hearing some of the local blues musicians. TIPS: -If you don't eat fried food check out the online menu to see what your options are. You won't have many so don't come here and then complain about it, consider yourself forewarned. -Seat yourself so you don't look dumb like me having to ask. -If you don't have time to wait then call ahead, they have a drive thru. -The two piece is PLENTY for a moderate eater. The menu doesn't offer a one piece plate. I think the plate I had is Top 100 worthy ;-) List: The BEST fried chicken I've ever had.

This is a Shack with style and great food! We came here on a whim and I'm so glad we did! If you are in the area it's a must!

Ok from the moment you pull up, this place is oozing charm. There is an old beat up pickup truck, a bottle tree, painted gliders and metal roosters everywhere. And that's even before you get in the door. When you walk in someone lets you know you get to pick out your favorite place in the house to eat. You can choose a table inside with a variety of comfy chairs to sit at or enjoy so fresh air out on the deck. The variation of the menu is slim, chicken. But let's face it, it's a chicken joint. But if you're just going to have one trick, do it right. And they do! The food was piping hot and almost falling out of the basket. More than you could get at one time especially if you got an appetizer like we did. Food is higher price than fast food but quality is superior though speed is faster than fast food. Easy on the belly, easy on the eyes. Such a really cool place!
